opinions.....good & bad, but please bare with me.

Good - Love these style of screens, compliments your car, and fitting environment.
Bad- top profile of glass, hate it, to tall. A while back I fabricated my version of these screens from alloy, and originally made it with a similar profile, inparticular with a tall centre support, with large glass area with a view that I might want a roof 'later on'....whilst a good intent, I decided it looked a bit to visually 'heavy', and proceeded to take 4" off the centre post, and trim the glass so that whilst it still had a curved profile (as opposed to straight cut), which resulted in a much more 'streamline' perspective, and much happier with the result.

here's mine...(this year it will finally get some love, promise Wink Very Happy )

and this was my inspiration...

Your car looks awesome, although, for me, I'd say stuff the practicality, and lop 4" off the centre post, and trim the glass back for a streamline profile....leaving the bonnet on... Very Happy

Cheers,

this is what I'm reffering to, the side posts remain untouched, centre post has about 3-4" removed, and glass trimmed to a graceful arc...

Trust this makes sense, try p/shoping the remaining photo's as a comparison, becomes a different animal....

Cheers,

Drewfus Very Happy

Drewfus.... thanks for the idea....
I know that car your referring to and it looks pretty good.... I agree it would look better with the center shorter....

2 problems though for me.... #1... I already stick above the top... and #2... historical accuracy
the real ones were this same height as mine...

It defonitely does need something changed about the glass... this is just how I got it
but I think I will leave the height alone since thats how Duke originally made them

If i get some time I'll surely be playing with it in photoshop since I happen to have a few more castings laying around and need to put one on my track roadster......

thanks
Zach

Zach, I would paint the hood on your car.
Hallock windshields are very much in the art deco vein; from an aesthetic
standpoint, the rest of the car is contrasting it, including the bare hood,
and probably the numbers, lettering, and matte finish. If you paint the hood
it will at least start unifying things a little bit, and the proportions of the
windshield will cease to be an issue; regardless of it being too short or too
tall, it's the volume and balance and finish of the different colors on the car
that the windshield is fighting.

The other thing you could do is go over the top in the other direction. Engine-
turn or polish the entire hood, and repaint the rest of the car in gloss black,
taking the numbers and lettering off it in the process. The character of the car
will change for sure but it will certainly stand out and be cohesive at the same
time.

thanks for the input Cris...
I've been thinking alot about painting the car.... the hood too!

the body needs a little bit of patch work and alot of little things need fixed.... plus it sits outside year round... so....it just keeps getting neglected

I think your right though... redoing it all in one color... no lettering or numbers... then the windsheild will stand alone on its own

then again I've been thinking about just putting the normal stock type windsheild back on.... instead....for the time being (too bad for all the holes now in the cowl top)

I still think this glass has an odd cut to it though on this particular windsheild......but it may be better suited for my low slung track roadster...

thanks alot
Zach
